Custom Street Light Projects: A Practical Specification Checklist
Oct 29, 2026

A clear project brief makes custom outdoor lighting easier to evaluate. Before commissioning a decorative street light or a multifunctional pole, agree on the application, appearance and technical information that the supplier should develop.

Start with the design intent

Share sketches, reference images and photographs of the location. Describe the preferred proportions, finish and visual theme. Identify any features that are essential and those that can be adapted during development.

Separate appearance from configuration

A concept image explains the appearance; the approved drawing and specification define the product to be supplied. Confirm the pole dimensions, materials, mounting arrangement, light-source configuration and access for servicing. For smart poles, list the intended devices and ask how they will be powered, mounted and integrated.

Provide site information

  • Project location and intended application.
  • Site plan, quantity and proposed installation positions.
  • Available power supply and control requirements.
  • Environmental and structural requirements supplied by the project team.
  • Preferred finish, delivery destination and target programme.

Agree on the approval steps

Ask which drawings, samples and model-specific documents will be provided before production. Confirm what is included in the quotation, the responsibilities for installation and foundations, packaging arrangements and replacement-part support. Record agreed revisions so the approved design remains clear to both parties.
